This work was published for the California meeting of the AIME. It provides a complete survey of California minerals, ores, mines and mining at the end of the 19th century, the mineral industry, and the history of the mining industry in California. Extensive coverage is provided to the gold industry. The illustrations include many photographs of mines and miners many b&w illustrations of equipment, 2 folding charts and 3 folding maps; plus 48 pages of advertisements for mining-related equipment and industries, most of it California-based.
