Lempriere (d.1834) entered the army medical service and went to Morocco to attend the emperor's son in 1789 and was also physician to the ladies of the harem. He provides a detailed narrative of his journey to Morocco, a view of Morocco, its geography, resources, the population and customs. Lempriere also discusses the Jews of Morocoo their habits, dress, etc. "His experiences in the harem were unique, as seldom was a European admitted to those precincts".
