The work is complete and in contemporary red calf over marbled boards with raised spine bands and gilt spine titles. The binding is tight and clean, light wear to corners. Very light foxing to some text signatures. In very good condition.
A Swiss paleontologist and botanist with the University of Zurich; Heer ( 1809-1883) is best noted for his studies in paleobotany and "Die Urwelt der Schweiz". Heer's work is one of the first to accurately depict primordial landscapes for geological periods. The work focuses on the various geological periods of Switzerland and includes several stunning renderings of geological landscapes and life.
