Emil Hugi (1873-1973) was a prominent Swiss petrologist and mineralogist. He also had an interest in meteorites and the history of the study of meteorites. He studied the Ulmiz meteorite and wrote an extensive report on the December 27, 1926 fall near the municipality of Ulmiz in the district of See and Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The collected mass of the meteorite was 76.5 g.
