The work is complete and in a modern linen with gilt title, owner's book plate on paste down, Harvard book plate above it but no stamps. Minor foxing to margins of text, plates clean and bright. In very good condition. The work is rare.


Nilsson; (1787-1883), a Swedish zoologist and paleontologist, wrote many early pioneering studies on the Cretaceous fossils of Scandinavia. The above work was intended to be the first of several parts illustrating fossils from the Cretaceous of Scandinavia but no further parts were printed. The plates are noted for the exceptional beauty and attention to details.
