The work is complete and in a later calf over marbled boards with gilt titles. The binding is tight and very clean, text is clean with light foxing. In very good condition.

A Danish geologist and volcanolgist, Schythe (1814-1877) is known for his studies of the Hekla volcano in Iceland. His 1847 work is devoted to the early September, 1845 eruption. He describes the geography and geology of the volcano, the lava fields, craters and the volcanic actions associated with the 1845 eruption.
