The work is complete and in the original half calf with speckled cloth boards, marbled end sheets, gilt spine titles. The binding is tight with light scuffing to boards and edges nicely restored, and inner spine hinges restored. Owners book plate on paste down.  In very good condition.

This work was published for the California meeting of the AIME. It provides a complete survey of California minerals, ores, mines and mining at the end of the 19th century, the mineral industry, the history of the mining industry in California. Extensive coverage is provided to the gold industry. The illustrations include many photographs of mines and miners many b&w illustrations of equipment, 2 folding charts and 3 folding maps; plus 48 pages of advertisements for mining-related equipment and industries, most of it California-based.
