This very rare work is complete and in a modern vellum binding with inked spine titles. The text and plates are exceptionally crisp with bright plates and a strong relief still in the? engravings and letters. An exceptional copy of an extremely rare important work on engineering hydraulics and the movement of water.
Architectural engineers , Walter (1701-1768) and Voch (1728-1783) spent there entire lives in Augsburg. Walter wrote four works on the engineering and transfer of water with the above being his most important. Voch published several works on architecture, hydrological engineering and technical engineering. The work consist of the 32 engraved plates which detail the equipment used in the movement of water from its source to individual locations and for the pumping of mineral springs to fountains and baths. The stunning attention to detail in the plates and its early date has apparently ed to the cutting and destruction of most copies of this work. The plates show various methods of moving water. Four copies are known to exist in North America; all are in private institutions. No recorded offering of a complete copy is found in the past 75 years.
