Johann Andreas Wagner (1797-1881) was a German paleontologist and zoologist. He wrote several important works in paleontology. Wagner was a professor at the University of Munich and the curator of the State Zoology Collections. His major work was "Die Geographische Verbreitung der Säugethiere Dargestellt" (1844-46). Although is name is not usually associated with studies on dinosaurs, Wagner also published studies studies of Ichthyosaurs from the Lias of southern Germany.
